British-born New York photographer Gerard Doolan has documented the city's rapid and dynamic changes for over 15 years. His black-and-white images reimagine familiar icons in timeless, compelling perspectives, capturing the dramatic lives lived, whether in tragedy or triumph, and suspending the passage of time to immortalise them forever. Like the breathtaking drama on the street, his photographs pulsate with a metropolitan spirit and the bewildering complexities of the human condition in the modern world, forming an open letter to New York and the generations of people who have called it home.
